Hi, I’m Amanda. I am a freelance journalist, wife, mother and nature-lover living in Upstate NY. I’m a country girl at heart, but I love visiting new towns and cities and perusing the shelves of small shops. After graduating from my university with a degree in Communications, I have also rediscovered a passion for style–nothing complicated, just simple, beautiful style.

Along with my love for nature, I also have an ever-growing interest in natural health. While being a wife and mother comes first in my life, I enjoy making my own natural beauty products in my spare time; I have a little Etsy shop called Sea Salt & Lavender Apothecary. I hope that I can inspire you and look forward to hearing your thoughts!

Why Sea Salt & Lavender?

Sea Salt & Lavender originally got its name from a little Etsy shop I opened in 2015 selling organic handcrafted bath and beauty products.

Sea salt is one of my favorite ingredients in food and bath. This precious ingredient not only livens up any dish; it is also rich in 60 trace minerals, which many of us are lacking in diets of modern day. Due to earth’s lack of nutrient-rich soil, it has become more difficult to find trace minerals in the foods we eat. Luckily, these trace minerals are still abundant in the oceans and seas around the world through a variety of sea salts. Sea salts also contain major electrolytes that are essential to good health, such as magnesium, sodium, potassium, and calcium.

Lavender has been a huge game-changer in my life, which I explain in 7 Essential Oils You Need in Your Life. Lavender is a unique addition to food recipes, and its benefits on health of mind and body can be immense. This remarkable herb can be used to relieve pain, treat respiratory problems, and alleviate nervous tension just to name a few of its benefits.

My goal in the creation of this blog is to provide a database of simple everyday beauty and lifestyle thoughts and information for the health-minded. I hope it enriches your life, and I would love to hear your thoughts and tips.
